Essay: Green Beans
Speaking from the perspective of a consumer sick of playing the same old drivel, I challenge game developers to create new and fresh entertainment in my essay, Green Beans. The gaming industry is in serious need of revitalization, running the risk of the same stagnation the early 80’s witnessed and the accompanying video game crash. If the industry doesn’t steer itself the customers will, and it’s not going to be pleasant. You can read Green Beans in the Essays portion of this site.

well you do have a few good points, but you are going on like you’re an expert while in reality you know nothing about industry.

I prefer to think of myself as speaking from the perspective of a customer sick of playing the same old drivel. Industry expert or not, the gaming industry is in serious need of revitalization. The industry as a whole is running the risk of overpopulation, somewhat akin to the early 80’s video game crash. If the industry doesn’t steer itself, the customers will, and it’s not going to be pleasant for most industry professionals.
There’s nothing wrong with challenging developers to create new and fresh entertainment, however, it’s naive to think the industry will correct itself without the monetary influence the customers provide. And when they talk, the developers will listen.

Pay no attention to that industry-luvin’ stuffed shirt. This industry is risky and those who are risk-averse will always reap inferior returns in the long-run.
Conversely, those who risk it all will lose the most, only to suddenly, out of the blue, win the most. I’ve been dealing with narrow-minded game suits for over a decade who supplied brilliant observations usch as “Networked games are just a fad” and “The 2D game is dead.”
